SYSTEMS / CLOUD / INFRASTRUCTURE

From the metal.
To the cloud.

I’m Tolga, a Computer Engineering student at Clemson. I build and operate Linux systems, automate infrastructure, and explore what makes distributed systems reliable.

Previously at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Currently administering Clemson’s student HPC cluster.

01

Automated containerized Linux/HPC infrastructure for the CIRCE AI platform using Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, Slurm, and Podman. Benchmarked retrieval backends to inform the design of an HPC-hosted RAG system.

5vector backends evaluated
2.7M4,096-dimensional vectors
~20×throughput vs. the existing setup¹

¹ Identified a higher-throughput backend in the evaluated retrieval workload. Results are specific to that benchmark.

HPC System Administrator

02

Administer Clemson’s Rocky Linux student HPC cluster, running distributed workloads and tuning performance with Slurm, MPI, HPL, and HPL-MxP. Worked with a heterogeneous cluster incorporating NVIDIA A100 GPUs.

Served as system administrator at SCC25 and am returning for SCC26. Also co-built a 16-node Raspberry Pi cluster for student competition work.

Undergraduate Robotics Researcher

Integrated robotic sensors with Python and C++ and built real-time telemetry for a digital twin.

03 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE TERMINAL

Curious about
what’s underneath.

I like work where software meets the machine: understanding a slow network path, making a cluster reproducible, or finding out what actually happens when a node goes offline.

My focus spans systems, cloud, SRE, and infrastructure engineering. HPC has given me hands-on experience with the Linux, networking, and performance problems that connect those fields.
